| Do you ever get that feeling of not entirely belonging? |
| Do you have a desire to connect with other Christians, and in the process connect even more with the Creator of this world? Well, we think we have the answer.
Community Group Ministry at Forest Park is in existence to glorify God by enjoying Him in His Community. When we say "Community,"
we are talking about forming fun and meaningful relationships with each other in a small group setting.
Through a rebuilding of community, we are trying to restore some of the broken relationships we experience with others as well as God.
You see, this whole "broken relationship" thing started back in Genesis chapter 3. |
|
| What is a "Community Group"? |
A small group is a group of six to 12 people that meet together regularly to have fun,
worship our Lord, study His word, and minister to each other and those around us. There is
great power in a small group. In a Community Group you become more than just another face in
the crowd. We "do" Community Group ministry at Forest Park to help EQUIP our members.
There are four areas we concentrate on in our small groups. |
|
| 1. Community: |
| A place where Christians can be family to each other, to enjoy life and have fun with each other. |
|
| 2. Developing Devoted Followers: |
| This is based on helping each other to grow through inductive Bible discussion* and meeting with each other both in and outside of the group to build accountability relationships.
(*We dont believe a community group is the place for one teacher to preach to a few followers for an hour and a half. We practice inductive Bible study, where a leader
asks a series of discussion questions designed to let the Bible teach us as much as possible.) |
|
| 3. Worship and Prayer: |
| Personal, powerful prayer and meaningful community group worship, focusing on connecting with our Father, and |
|
| Why should I join one of these Community Group? |
| We at Forest Park want you to find a place of friendship, grace, and acceptance, as well
as a place in which you have an opportunity for spiritual growth. One of the best ways to
do this is to join a community group! We arent meeting just to learn facts and knowledge,
were meeting to become family to each other. Just ask any community group member how this ministry has impacted their life. |
|
| Acts 2:42-47
talks about the first Christians and some of the things they did. Meeting in homes was one of those things. |
